Solid-state fermentation improves the nutritive value of grated cassava roots and palm kernel cake mix for growing pigs

The increasing need to transform the abundant agro-industrial by-products into livestock feed materials is limited by high contents of non-starch polysaccharides such as cellulose and mannan. In this study, potential solid-state fermentation enhance nutritive value a mixture grated cassava roots palm kernel cake for pigs was evaluated. Solid state fermented used replace maize in diets growing compared negative control which replaced with blend meal ratio 1:1. Data collected on weight gain, intake, conversion ratio; carcass meat quality attributes. live weights boars gilts fed containing (38.07 37.86 Kg) were similar (p>0.05) those based (37.94 36.93 but superior (p<0.05) CSM-PKC (33.22 31.92 Kg). Similar trends also found gain ratio. cost per kg lowest among FCP (N378.53) resulted higher profit margin highest CSM-PKC. It therefore concluded that solid an effective tool enhancing swine feeding.
